Castorwax™ Hydrogenated Castor Oil
This solution is a wax-like compound obtained by the controlled hydrogenation of pure castor oil. The principal constituent is glycerol tris 12-hydroxystearate, also known as opalwax. Castorwax Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a hard, brittle, high melting point wax that is insoluble in most organic solvents but is highly compatible with most resins and waxes. It can be used as a viscosity modifier to improve grease and oil resistance.
Applications
Natural Lubricant
Our Castorwax solution is a natural lubricant alternative for petroleum-based waxes in rubber, tubing, & plastics applications. Hydrogenated Castor Oil has a discrete melt point, which provides consistency relative to other waxes.
Reactive Pigment Masterbatches
The low unsaturation levels limit oxidative degradation and other side reactions. Hydrogenated Castor Oil is insoluble in most organic solvents, but highly compatible with resins and other waxes. Imparts excellent anti-static properties and uniform color.
Adhesives
Castorwax Hydrogenated Castor Oil improves rheology and imparts hydrophobic characteristics in industrial adhesives and reactive hot melt applications. This product is a sustainable alternative to hydrocarbon waxes.
Features
- Broadly compatible with rubber and plastics
