Dry #1 Refined Castor Oil
Dry #1 Refined Castor Oil is a premium grade of castor oil developed for a variety of uses including urethanes, packaging adhesives, & reactive hot melts.
- Extremely low moisture content
- Clear, viscous, light color
- Non-drying and stable
- Lubricity and plasticization
- Penetration and surface wetting
- Pigment/dye dispersion
- Base compound for reactions
Dry #1 Refined Castor Oil is used in food packaging, where freshness is critical, creating a superior moisture vapor barrier.
Dry #1 Refined Castor Oil a key natural polyol for a multitude of urethane reactions, where low moisture is critical during the reaction phase.
Reactive Hot Melts
Dry #1 Refined Castor Oil is used in polyurethane (PUR) hot melts in industries from high volume manufacturing to DIY and home repair. Polyurethane hot melts are non-toxic, quick setting, & offer temperature and weather resistance.
Vertellus supplies a variety of castor oil grades the uses of which are dictated by acid value, moisture level, color, and purity. Castor oil is a triglyceride of fatty acids, with the fatty acid content being approximately 90% ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid is an 18-carbon acid having a double bond in the 9-10 position and a hydroxyl group on the 12th carbon. Its remarkably constant composition, hydroxyl functionality and unsaturation, make it uniquely versatile as a naturally occurring compound.
While castor oil is available from several sources, regardless of origin, the chemical nature and composition are remarkably uniform.
