SAN (Succinic Anhydride) for UV Curable Resins
Succinic anhydride (SAN) is an intermediate used in several important chemical production processes. One of its key applications is as a component in UV curing resins for coatings, inks, and adhesives. Low in solvents and VOCs, our SAN enables more sustainable processes along the value chain.
Applications
UV Curing Resins for Coatings, Inks, and Adhesives
SAN is an important ingredient in UV-light curable resins, which have several advantages over conventional resin systems. With fewer harmful solvents and lower energy consumption, they have a reduced environmental impact. UV curing resins also enable high productivity thanks to their faster drying times and are easy to apply even when the coating is complex or needs to be carefully targeted. For these reasons, they are becoming increasingly popular in printing and varnishing applications within the coating, ink, and adhesive industries.
Performance Coatings
Whether for wood, concrete, or plastic, high-performance resins often include SAN. In particular, SAN is widely used in scratch-resistant coatings, polyester resins, and UV-curable acrylic adhesives (for example, in the automotive or medical industry). By protecting surfaces and prolonging materials’ lifetimes, these coatings support the sustainable use of our planet’s precious resources.
