Vitride™ Reducing Agent

Vitride™ finds use in polymerisation. In fact, anionic polymerisation of caprolactam is well known to be initiated by a number of metals and hydrides, eg NaH. If the polymerisation of caprolactam is done using Vitride™ the resultant polymer is

  • of high molecular weight
  • of a higher degree of crystallinity
  • able to endure higher abrasive forces

Such polymer finds commercial use for customers engaged in cast molded operations, where extrusion is not possible due to the higher molecular weight (increased viscosity). Vitride™ can be used to increase the performance (eg strength, resistance to abrasion etc) when used in replacement of any of the usual anionic initiators.
